QUICK GUIDE
Starting is Always Hard
The most important thing to know is that earning money in the early years is tough, and studio growth in Game Builder Tycoon is exponential. This means you'll start slow, but as time passes, your company will earn money more rapidly as you unlock new features and improve your marketing efforts. Office 1 might feel a bit challenging, but with patience and strategy, things will pick up as your studio grows.
Game Creation and Rating
Game creation involves selecting a genre, theme, art style, viewpoint, device, game size, features, sliders, and sub-sliders. Try to assign appropriate values based on the genre's needs. For example, visual novels require strong storytelling and dialogue.
Every choice you make affects the game's rating. It's okay if your choices aren't perfect—just go with what feels right based on real-world examples.
Character Slots
The character you assign to each specific slot (e.g., tech, marketing) matters. Make sure to place the right character in the right field, such as a person with high tech skills in the tech slot.
Training
It's important to train your characters regularly to keep them up-to-date with industry standards. For example, consider training them once every year or (based on your own judgement).
Remember, characters with high IQs learn tech skills more effectively, and this applies to all attributes. Train them logically based on their strengths.
Earning
Earnings depend on various factors, including game rating, features (for example localization), character marketing skills, and marketing strategy.
Unlock a free demo as soon as possible to maximize initial earnings, and use "word of mouth" along with the demo for best results. The combination of (genre- device), game size, reputation, followers, market hype, and publisher support also impacts revenue.
Hiring
To develop larger games, you'll need more characters. Hire based on your budget—campus recruitment gives you the option to hire characters with no experience but potentially strong attributes.
Free-to-Play Model
Free-to-play games reach a larger audience and help you gain more fans. To earn revenue through this model, unlock the In-App Purchase feature and use it effectively. Free to play games earn less in starting (at the time of game launch) but they earn good money in monthly sales or in long run.
Loans
If you're running low on cash or nearing bankruptcy, you can take out a loan. While loans are automatically credited when funds are critically low, you also have the option to take one manually.
Events
Events during game development can affect your finances, game quality, sales, and reputation. Pay attention to these to ensure success.
Sequels
Creating sequels to highly-rated games can be extremely profitable, but the sequel must be good enough to uphold the original's legacy.
Competition
Your company is listed among 5000 gaming companies, and you need to compete for the top position. Every successful game and major profit brings you closer to becoming the ultimate tycoon.
Reports
In-game reports and logs are available. Check them regularly to analyze what worked well and what didn’t.
